On Sunday, August 14 we welcome our new Music Director, Dr. Delvyn Case. Quincy musician Delvyn Case is well-known for his contribution to the musical and cultural life of the city. He is the music director of the Eastern Nazarene College Choral Union, the Quincy Summer Singers, the Quincy Bay Chamber Ochestra, and is the former Artistic Director of the city’s Summerfest concert series. He has established a variety of collaborative relationships with local individuals and organizations that promote music and arts education, including the Quincy Public Schools, the Thomas Crane Public Library, the Quincy Point Music Academy, and the Quincy Council on Aging. An award-winning composer whose works have been performed by over twenty orchestras across the country, Del often focuses his energies as a composer on the city of Quincy. His opera, The Prioress’s Tale, was premiered in Quincy in 2008 and was performed again in the city in 2011. He has also written music for the Quincy Symphony and for Quincy Point Congregational Church. Dr. Case is currently Assistant Professor Music at Wheaton College in Norton. He is a former faculty member at the Longy School of Music, Notheastern University, and Boston College. He earned a Ph.D. in Musical Composition from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in music from Yale. He lives in Quincy with his wife, LK, and two daughters, Alexandra (11) and Madeline (5).
